Philosophy of Care
Emphasis is placed upon individual patient care. We aim to provide an environment where residents remain as independent as possible, with the support of our caring and motivated staff.
Our aim is to provide a homely atmosphere and for residents to think of us as their ‘home’ in the truest sense with the provision of high quality, comfy, clean, warm and safe surroundings where residents feel happy and relaxed.
Physical, Emotional and Spiritual Support
We strive to promote a feeling of security and well being between residents, coupled with professional nursing standards. Residents are treated with the utmost dignity and respect. The needs and abilities of each individual are constantly monitored.
Promotion of Personal Choice and Active Participation
Residents are encouraged to make decisions regarding daily activities in order to maximise their personal choice.
Freedom of Expression
Residents and staff are encouraged to express personal feelings, all questions and suggestions will be acknowledged and given the consideration they deserve.
Commitment to Improvement
We believe in keeping an open mind and keeping abreast of the latest developments in nursing care in the interest of improving and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Data Protection
Privacy and confidentiality of all documentation and communications pertaining to residents care and medical records is strictly maintained between the home and members of the Multi-Disciplinary team (GP surgeries, doctors, nurses, dieticians etc).
Emphasis is placed upon Team Work
We recognise the value of all staff within our home and colleagues work closely to achieve the best possible care for residents.
Codes of Conduct
We are bound by the Code of Conduct for the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the home also complies with the Code of Practice published the General Social Care Council.
Residents Charter & Code of Practice
Residents can expect staff to behave towards them in a kind, courteous, caring manner, which recognises them as equals and promotes their individuality.
Each Resident has the right:
• To be addressed by their preferred name
• To confidentiality in all aspects of care
• To protection, safety and control of their environment
• To be involved in the planning of their care
• To question, accept or refuse any aspect of their care
• To have access to personal and medical records and information on their medical condition
• To be registered with a General Practitioner of their choice
• To voice grievances and complaints without fear of reprisal
• To be free from any illegal restraint, whether medical or physical
• To maintain their independence and manage aspects of their daily life
• To manage their own personal financial affairs
• To expect staff to respect their privacy and maintain their dignity in all aspects of personal and nursing care
• To freedom of expression concerning religious, political and cultural practices
• To freedom of choice within the range of facilities available with regards to:
1. Participation in social and recreational activities of their choice
2. Staff gender preferences
3. Seating area and room preferences
4. Times of retiring, rising, bathing and dining
5. Food and drink
6. Personal clothing and personal belongings
7. To have access to health authority reports regarding the home
